Man
The light artwork explores the complex relationship between man and the natural world, encouraging us to reflect on human impact on the environment. Artist Amanda Parer created her work Man, inspired by Auguste Rodin’s famous 1880 bronze sculpture The Thinker. It is an artwork for our time. In contrast to Rodin’s depiction of the ideal man, Parera’s Man seems somewhat bewildered. He is contemplating on the greedy desires of modern society and their detrimental effects on the world.
Amanda Parera’s artwork has earned worldwide recognition, it has been showcased around the globe and admired by millions of people. The artist finds inspiration from the dramatic landscapes found in her home in Tasmania, Australia. Her imagery plays with scale, light, darkness, humor and melancholy.
