The tree symbolizes our ancestors’ experiences, advice and memories that continue to live even when their voices can no longer be heard. The installation is a large, colorfully glowing tree of light, its branches connecting past and present. Light flows through the trunk and branches like wisdom passed from one generation to the next, changing color but never losing its essence.

Each shade of color can hold a story, a warning, hope or a quiet word of encouragement. The installation invites us to pause and listen to what often goes unnoticed in the everyday rush. This moment becomes a meeting between those who lived before us and those who are yet to come.

Beneath the light of the tree the past is not far away, it is breathing beside us and influencing the choices we make here and now. “Ancient Voices” remind us that we do not grow alone: our roots hold our experience, while the branches continue to reach towards the unknown. By listening to these voices, we can not only remember the past but also better understand our place in the shared, never-ending flow of time and life.

The installation is approximately 5 meters high and 6 meters wide. It is made of aluminum and contains more than a kilometre of digital LED ribbons. Particular control system will be developed to operate the installation, which will also include a sound system.

This is one of the artworks in the Spīķeri route of light. The concept brings four light installations together in one story about the human place in time and space, and the ongoing process of transformation. Each artwork reveals a different aspect of human experience: digital identity, the inevitability of repetition, the mathematical order of the Universe and the wisdom our ancestors left behind.
