This year the “Staro Rīga” festival of light will begin on Latvia’s birthday, November 18th. The organizers of the festival warmly invite everyone in Riga, visitors included, to light up his or her heart; anybody can participate with any light source! Beginning with a candle in a window or screwing a coloured bulb into a lamp, one can go wherever your imagination takes you, from Christmas lights to homemade kinetic sculpture. You could create an unforgettable display of light in a courtyard or an unusual effect in your window. The point is to bring the spirit of celebration into every building. Do something to mark Latvia’s national day and become a part of the festival! We invite comments and suggestions for a do-it-yourself festival everyone can become involved in!
