When the autumn evenings arrive unexpectedly quickly with their dampness and darkness, people long for miracles and surprises. There will be both the former and the latter when visiting Me\u017eaparks during the Festival of Light \u201cSTARO RIGA\u201d. The well known Riga National Zoo symbol \u2013 the entrance gate built in 1912 \u2013 will transform beyond recognition, becoming a bright window to the African savannah, where herds of antelope, zebra and giraffe graze lazily and lions and elephants lounge in the sweltering sun.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t worry that all of it is just delusion that has been achieved with the help of a video projection in the gate\u2019s opening. It\u2019s showing footage captured during the \u201cVides film studio\u201d trip to Africa. The dreary and dark autumn evenings are just the right time for dreaming!<\/p>\n

And if you think about it, Riga Zoo is TRULY a unique \u201cwindow to Africa\u201d because there is no shortage of that continent\u2019s\u2019 animals in the zoo\u2019s real exhibits. It\u2019s time for a peaceful walk beyond the \u201cwindow to Africa\u201d<\/p>\n

From November 18th-21st, during the Festival of Light \u201cSTARO RIGA\u201d the Zoo animals also await visitors \u2013 the booking office will be open until 7:00PM (exit by 9:00PM) and the interior exhibits will be open until 8:30PM. So, everyone will have the opportunity to visit the elegant giraffe foursome in the Giraffe House, as well as observe the many types of insects, reptiles and amphibians in the Tropical House and see the sweet Bolivian owl monkeys that recently welcomed a new offspring.<\/p>\n

Moreover, during the Festival, admission fees (16.00-19.00) will be quite \u201cwarm\u201d \u2013 just 2.00Ls for adults, 1.00Ls for children, students and seniors.<\/p>\n
