DAWN. GLOW
Light awakens and illuminates Old Riga. During the “Staro Rīga” light festival, the city fills with the murmur of crowds, with joy, light, and colour — a true DAWN — standing in contrast to the usually quiet, dark streets of Old Riga at night. Within this circle of light, the story of the messengers of dawn unfolds through seven chapters — seven Morning Tales that rouse the city and awaken the heralds of the coming day.
The glow of dawn—the first wave of light—begins to awaken the city. On the walls of its buildings, shadows, stained glass, and reflections of ancient times come to life, recalling the city’s old souls. They trace the industrial era, the moment when electricity and metal emerged as new forces of energy. Then the light transforms into a digital language, mirroring modern Riga—a dynamic space shaped by data and human connection. Young multimedia artist Patriks Kirkils (Bourzma) creates a journey through the centuries on the facade of the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design with his projection “Dawn.Glow”. It awakens the ancient inhabitants of Riga and lets you look behind the historic walls and ramparts of Riga.
