OCULUCIS

Miera Street 58A, Latvian Academy of Culture Quarter

“Oculucis” is a fanciful light installation regarding the power of the gaze and the human craving to uncover more than what meets the eye. Two monumental luminous spheres portray two human eyes gazing into the sky, creating a tranquil and enigmatic ambience tempting visitors to stop for a moment and feel the gaze. The work reminds us of our ability not only to see, but also to feel the world around us. The luminous gaze pulses and breathes, turning every observer into an active participant of the silent dialogue between a man and the universe. The installation stimulates inner peace and reflections on self and external world.

Hermes Mangialardo creates light works poetically intertwining reality and fantasy. His installations transform space into feelings. The experience of silence, light, and reflections thatstick around long after the lights go out.
