NINE SPARKS
The light and video installation “Nine Sparks” is a story about the creative flame embodied and ignited by nine muses. It was inspired by the flame of the Daile Theatre, which was encoded into the architecture of the building by architect Marta Staņa, and by the motifs of fire in Rainis’ poetry, which represent the human spirit, inner strength and creative power. From the thunderous sounds of epic poetry to the precise astronmical calculations, each muse presided over her own realm, offering artists a spark of inspiration. Bringing their own spark to the flame, nine actresses from the Dailes Theatre take on the roles of the muses: Olga Dreģe (Muse of Lyrical Epics), Ilze Ķuzule-Skrastiņa (Muse of Music), Vita Vārpiņa (Muse of History), Marta Lovisa Jančevska (Mmuse of Love Songs), Milena Miškēviča (Muse of Sacred Hymns), Ieva Segliņa (Muse of Tragedy), Madara Viļčuka (Muse of Dance and Poetry), Kristīne Nevarauska (Muse of Comedy) and Katrīna Griga (Muse of Astronomy and Astrology).
