MIEGA ZĀLES
Location: Torņa Street – Jēkaba Barracks
A hypnotic installation which, using classic rotating spirals, plays with our consciousness. Widely used in hypnosis, these spirals create the illusion of movement and the deformation of space, depending on the drawing and movement direction. The feeling of distancing from reality and arriving in a different environment and dimension is created.
Six hypnotic spirals of various sizes and drawings are placed on the city’s defensive wall. Each of these turns at a different rate and manages to create a sense of peace and sleepiness in the spectators, who momentarily forget about reality. The spectators can sit on the benches provided, concentrate their gaze on one of the spirals, and feel the picture changing as the colors flow together and the spatial dimension appears before their eyes.
Festival attendees are invited to surrender to the influence of “Sleeping Pill” and, for a moment, reach a different dimension.
