ECHO OF LIGHT

Latvian Railway History Museum Courtyard, Uzvaras Boulevard 2A

“Echo of Light” is an innovative and experimental audiovisual installation that visually and symbolically depicts the continuous movement and transformation of energy and light. The installation uses high-precision lasers and two large mirrors, the laser beams bounce off the surface of the mirrors creating an endless “echo of light”. Similar to sound waves that echo in space, these light beams moving in a zigzag manner between the mirrors, create a hypnotic, almost holographic effect.

The symbolism of the installation reminds us of the sustainability of energy and actions, inviting viewers to be aware of the actions they take and their consequences for the world. It expresses the idea that the same as light our words, thoughts and actions continue to reflect in space and affect the environment, creating changes and energy flows.

48 lasers and special mirrors with high reflectivity ensure almost complete reflection of the rays and create the illusion of infinity. The fog distribution system allows the viewers to see the rays of light. The light object is complemented by a sound design created by sound director Pēteris Pāss.

The “Echo of Light” installation is approximately 3 meters wide, 3.5 meters high and 9 meters long.
