ARTISTIC LEGACY OF ARCHITECT ALEKSANDRS KLINKLĀVS

Miera Str. 25

The Roche Latvija building is the first Functionalist style building outside Switzerland designed specifically for Roche’s needs. Created in 1931 it exemplifies the artistic legacy of architect Aleksandrs Klinklāvs and stands as a vivid example of the Functionalist style.

A. Klinklāvs (1899–1982) is regarded as one of the most prominent Latvian architects and is especially esteemed for his expertise in healthcare architecture. His works, including the Roche building, are distinguished by their rational and proportionally balanced international modernism.

We invite you to observe his creative work in Latvia and beyond through a 3-minute video projected onto the building’s exterior façade wall, facing 25 Miera Street.
