The Secretariat of the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union is participating in Staro Rīga light festival for the first time; in partnership with the National Library of Latvia, enveloping Gaismas pils (Castle of Light) in a festive adornment. On Latvia’s 96th birthday, the National Library building will gleam in new colours, telling us that as soon as January 1, 2015 this will be the home of the Latvian presidency for six months. The building’s facade displays, for the first time, the Latvian Presidency logo, a millstone, to a wider audience. The silhouette of Gaismas pils will be a standout feature of the urban environment throughout Latvia’s Presidency.
