THREE LIGHTS IN SKANSTE – GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE
Olympic Sports Centre, Grostonas Street 6b
Skanste, one of Riga’s newer neighbourhoods, is located in what was once the city’s cattle-grazing area. Today, Skanste is one of Riga’s most sporty districts, being home to the Olympic Sports Centre. Gold, silver and bronze are the medals that all athletes compete for. Bronze: for beach volleyball at the Olympics and the floodlit night tournament held at the Olympic Sports Centre. Silver: sports documentary cinema under the starry city sky. Every viewer will be lit up by an outstanding sports personality each evening. Gold: a sense of community both in competitions and remembering the most outstanding achievements of Latvian sport – “My gold is my people”.
