The aim of this light installation is to awaken all the positive feelings people associate with childhood. Just as butterflies begin their lives as caterpillars, we too begin life immature and naïve. In childhood everything in the world seems easier, calmer and friendlier, but as we grow up, it can feel as though we are thrown into a confusing tangle. This is why nostalgia arises, along with the desire to return to the good old days of childhood. A park or courtyard, fairy tales or cartoons – these are part of our happiest childhood memories and will be incorporated into the creation of the light installation.

This is a light artwork in the student programme of the Latvian College of Culture of the Latvian Academy of Culture. The exhibition of light artworks created by students of the Latvian College of Culture of the Latvian Academy of Culture has been developed in collaboration with 47 students from nine universities in the ACE2EU European University Alliance representing Austria, Germany, Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Spain, Portugal, North Macedonia and Latvia. During creative workshops in early September the students developed ideas for light artworks. The exhibition is located within the Ave Sol route of light and creates a connection with the Viesturdārzs route of light.
