Location: Esplanāde, Kronvalds Park, Bastejkalns
Jānis Rainis, Andrejs Upīts, Rūdolfs Blaumanis. Most people in Rīga walk past these monuments often, observing, how each day, unmoving, the stone and metal counterparts of these great men look over the bustle of the city. For four days this will be different, as the monuments will come to life, conjuring up never before seen magnificent illusions – through text, light and in speeches, video-projections, moving pictures as well as through new insights.
The “3 Monument Stories” will search for a contemporary dialogue, using the essays of these monumental heroes as a base.
When these great men speak, it’s time to look and listen, as they’ve never been short of a word – their monuments too, have something to say.
