MĪNOTAURS

Location: Spīķeri Concert Hall

“Minotaur” is a sound and light project, which can be viewed both in the form of an exhibition or as a performance. “Minotaur” is an environment created by Gints Gabrāns and Voldemārs Johansons at the Spīķeri Concert Hall, which will be filled with sound sculptor Voldemārs Johansons’ and composer Ģirts Bišs’ music. The creators of the project were inspired by the ancient cultural space and the characters and relationship archetypes of the myth’s main heroes Daedalus, the Minotaur and Ariadne, with the retelling of the myth being secondary.

The stage’s visual images created by Gints Gabrāns will be located in the twilight zone between
order and chaos, between the visible and the invisible. Voldemārs Johansons will be responsible for the spatial resonating structures: metal objects of various forms with specific volume and size proportions will be located in the space, calculated so that their resonance creates sounds of a certain pitch.

The “Minotaur” light and sound installation can be seen for free at the Spīķeri Concert Hall on the 18th and 19th of November from 18:00-23:00 and on the 20th and 21st of November from
19:00-23:00.

The “Minotaur” performance, in which the Latvian Radio Choir and Conductor Kaspars Putniņš will take part, is on the 20th and 21st of November at 16:00 and 18:00. Tickets are available from
“Biļešu paradīze” booking offices and an hour before the performance at the Spīķeri Concert Hall with tickets priced from 5 – 7 lats.
