The Latvian way of life has its roots in the Latvian land, nature, and traditions. However, are we not giving up on our ideals in favour of staying in our comfort zone and simple joys due to the fast pace of modern life? Do we get confused and break when faced with the stunning amounts of new information and technology? This figurative sketch asks us to take a look at ourselves, to figure out how not to get confused by the challenges of the global world and the digital jungle and not to lose the connection to our roots.
The video projection is comprised of video material by Vide Film Studio and compositions by Laima Jansone, Arta Oruba, composition “Elektriskais gans” (“Electric herdsman”) by Andra Grunte, as well as the composition “Austošās saules dziesma” (“Song of the Rising Sun”) by Rihards Valters and Aisma Graumane (performed by post-folk band “Dārdi”).
